So it's intuitive to try to come up with a way to encourage drivers - who normally wouldn't venture downtown - to hop into their rides and cruise on down to Main Street to shop for wares. When Mike Amico bought it, he knew it'd be a gasoline guzzler. He was spending about $200 a week to fill its hungry tanks. But, says Koeppen, Amico turned his gas hog into a cash cow. This month, he'll get $100 in free gas.

1. What is it exactly that you offer?


We offer both gas and grocery rebate certificates (incentives) that any business owner, non-profit agency, or individual can purchase and GIVE away to get more customers, make more sales, increase donations, stimulate referrals, use as closing tools - this list is endless on how you can incorporate these into your organization's marketing mix.

 
2. Give me an example of how I can use them.

Car Sales: Offered a $100 Gas Certificate when a customer takes a "test drive" and a $500 Gas Certificate when they buy a new car.

Carpet Cleaning Service: A carpet cleaning service had a special to clean 5 rooms of carpet for $150. They gave their customer a $300.00 Gas Certificate. Customers felt like the company was actually PAYING them to hire them to clean their carpets.

Chiropractic Care: Offered new patients $150 in Free Gas on their first visit. If they "bought" a packaged care plan, then the patient received $300 in Free Gas.

Lawn Care or Landscaping Services: Offering a year round contract to customers this company gave away a $100 gas certificate when they paid month-to-month. If the customer paid in advance for the year, a $500 Gas Certificate was issued instead.

Car Wash: Using a $300 gas certificate to make more sales of their annual car wash pass for $199 which allows customers to wash their car as often as they wish.

Employee Rewards: Companies help their employees get to work by giving them a $100 Gas Certificate every four months when they show up on time. Outstanding employees received $300 or $500 certificates instead.


3. What denominations do the free gas and grocery rebate certificates come in?


Certificates come in seven denominations... $50, $100, $150, $250, $300, $450, and $500.

 
4. What do my customers get?

Consumers can earn BACK a maximum of $25 per month for each month they spend at least $100 in fuel (with a gas certificate) or groceries (with a food certificate). And honestly who isn't doing that today. So a $100 certificate is good for 4 months @ $25.00 per month while a $500 certificate will take 20 months before they will get full value ($25 per month x 20 months = $500.00.)


5. Do my customers have to jump through hoops to get their gas or food gift card each month?

Absolutely not. Here's the process. You know if you go to Best Buy and purchase a piece of software with a mail in rebate on it that you have to send in that coupon and the receipt for your purchase in order to get your $20, $30 or more rebate in the mail. Our program is very similar only it works with gas or food gift cards from most major brands of fuel and food. The consumer takes the certificate they receive from you, the business owner, for visiting your store, test driving a car, buying a product or scheduling a service or whatever you wanted them to do.

They activate it by going online and filling out a form (free) or mailing it in to the redemption company (there is a one-time non-refundable $4.50 fee to register by mail as the redemption company has to ship the vouchers back to the customer so they can redeem them) . At the time of activation they choose the brand of gas they will be using, or the supermarket or grocery store they do their food shopping at, for the entire redemption period. We issue them redemption coupons (mail in rebate forms) with their name, the activation number and the month and year that the coupon needs to be sent in to us.

Then, on the first day of the very next month, they begin to save their gas or food receipts (depending on what type of certificate they've received) when they fill up or go food shopping. Once they have at LEAST $100 in receipts, they mail those receipts and that month's redemption coupon in to our company (and the address is right on the voucher itself - the process is made very simple for your customer. 

Remember... we are not asking the consumer to do ANYTHING out of the ordinary. No membership to buy, no need to buy anything EXTRA... just simply continue to buy the gas or food they normally buy and are currently getting nothing for other than the gas, groceries, and an empty wallet. The one small thing they have to do to participate is send in their gas or food receipts using an envelope and a stamp. When we receive it, we process it and issue them a $25.00 gas card (for the same brand of fuel or for the supermarket where they purchased their food) and mail it back to them. When the consumer receives the card they can use it at any fuel station or food store that accepts that gift card.


6. Who pays the difference between what the gas or grocery certificates costs me and the $25 gas or grocery gift card?

The company we work with is the Fuel Redemption Company, who have strategic alliances with many major companies across the U.S., in Puerto Rico and in Canada to underwrite the cost of the gas and grocery cards that are sent to consumers when they redeem one of the gas or grocery certificates.


7. Can I put my logo on the certificates?

Absolutely. In fact we encourage it. What better way to remind a customer who gave them the opportunity to participate in the Gas & Grocery Redemption program than by having your logo and/or business name on the certificate they have to fill out in order to participate.


8. I only want 5 or 10 certificates to try them out?

We are very sorry, but the minimum order is 25 certificates of any one type (fuel or food) or denomination ($50, $100, $150, $250, $300, $450, and $500).


9. I want to try it first to make sure it works and to see what my customers will be going through, can you give me a certificate to try?

That is very admirable that you want to make sure you customers experience is a good one. We commend you highly for caring about your customer this deeply. Unfortunately, we cannot give you a certificate to try. If we did, we'd have to give one to every prospective customer who asked and that number is in the tens-of-thousands of businesses across the United States, Canada and in Puerto Rico. That is just not possible for us to do. Besides, if you do try a certificate to see if the program works it could be up to 10-12 weeks before you ever get your first gift card. Waiting that long will only give your competitor the opportunity to get your customers with this offer before you do. The answer is to try a test order of just 25 certificates. And then refer to #8 of these FAQs.


10. What specific brands of gas stations and grocery store chains participate in this program?

ALL GAS BRANDS AND GROCERY STORES (SUPER MARKETS) ARE AVAILABLE. Not all underwrite the program but a consumer can choose ANY gas brand OR supermarket they want. If it is not listed among the ones on the redemption site then they simply choose OTHER and tell us the NAME of that brand or market. We will contact the headquarters for that brand to see if they have gas or food gift cards available. If they do, then that is the card the consumer will get. If they do NOT have a gas or food gift card then we will replace it with a $25 VISA or AMEX card instead.


11. Does the $25 gift card that my customer receives every month have to be spent/used at the brand of gas station or supermarket they selected upon registering the certificate?

No, customers are given a $25 gift card that can be used to purchase anything, even more gas/groceries.


12. Do these gas or grocery certificates expire?

Certificates which are printed with an expiration date expire on the printed date. Otherwise the certificates are only good for 1 year from the date of purchase. We do not recommend you order them and then hang on to them. Give them away as fast as you can. That means more customers, more sales and more money for your business.


13. Is there a time limit that my customer has to activate and use their gas or food certificate?

Once your customer activates the gas or grocery certificate you gave them they should start collecting receipts the 1st of the very next month. When they reach $100, they need to send them to us so we can issue them their $25 gift card. They must submit gas or grocery receipts equaling $100 each month for the length of the redemption period.


14. What happens if my customer does not send in receipts one month?

Unfortunately, they will lose that month’s worth of redemption. The companies underwriting the program are looking for brand loyalty every month.


15. Can I buy the certificates from you and then sell them to my customers?

No. You cannot sell our certificates to your customer or any other consumer. The certificate MUST be given away or included in a bundle price for your product or service.


16. How many certificates do I have to purchase?

Not many. We have a minimum purchase requirement of 25 certificates. There is NO limit on the amount you can purchase, and the more you purchase, the better the pricing.


17. Can I mix and match the denominations of certificates?

As long as you buy the minimum of 25 certificates per denomination, of course you can mix and match between the $50, $100, $150, $250, $300, $450, and $500 denominations.


18. Ok, I'm convinced these will help me make more money. How do I get started?

Video - The Most Fun Medium of Marketing!

I mean, yes, sometimes they are but, for the most part, you can’t afford to use humor in the written sales letter.

Video opens up avenues which were never available before to any business.Or, for that matter, any individual just wanting to get his or her diary online in video form.Sure, you could upload a video to YouTube or one of the multitudes of video sites, but not everyone wants to stick their videos on a public forum that size. There may be certain types of videos available only to your clients – would you want everyone to see them.

Heck, I know of one martial artist who sticks videos on YouTube which are only supposed to be for his paid members. You can’t get to them through his site, but all you have to do is go to YouTube and type in his name and, hey presto, there they are.

Now, if you’re one of those people who want to keep their videos on individual sites, what happens if you’re not a techie. Well, if you’re anything like me, you’ll go through a whole load of trial and error. Sure, you’ll probably get the video onto your site, as I did, but it could take a whole day… as it did me.

EVP is an awesome product!

Viral Videos For List Building !

All experience marketers know the old adage that “the money is in the list “.Network marketers have developed contact lists in many different ways over the years. Generally a sign up form is offered with a free giveaway. Someone simply fills out the form with a name and e-mail address to “opt in” to the autoresponder and the free giveaway is provided to them. In return for that, they generally understand that they have granted permission for whoever made the offer to follow up with other e-mails with other offers.

Several years ago the singular e-mail opt-in was taken a step further when software was developed that asked the first recipient to forward the offer to 4-5 of there friends in order to qualify for the free giveaway, or perhaps even a very low priced offering. Hence, list building became viral, meaning that a single e-mail to a single individual could be multiplied in a near exponential manner as each level of opt-ins continued to forward the offer to even more people.

The Web 2.0 World

Of course the latest to trend in the network and internet marketing community is the Web 2.0 world of blogs, YouTube, Twitter and the like. The use of videos in various social networks in order to communicate and establish a following with the subscribers has become ubiquitous. The net result of all this is that seemingly the most effective way to communicate with potential subscribers, or even to acquire subscribers and customers these days is probably through the use of videos.

Videos have a number of advantages, including the ability to present yourself as a sincere and a knowledgeable person in a face-to-face way. A potential subscriber or customer is more likely to buy from someone they they feel like they know. So
consequently, it’s almost imperative these days that you use the video medium in order to communicate with potential prospects to turn them into eventual customers.

It can probably be most effectively used by someone who already has a subscriber list and wants to expand it rapidly.
Another potential negative is that the the new contacts you generate with this list, both directly and indirectly, are not yet buyers and it’s likely that many of them will have no interest in your particular marketing niche. Proper strategy of course is to build credibility over time through a series of value adding free offers that are designed to help categorize their interests. Only then should you move on to the stage of offering them the opportunity to buy your stuff.

Tweak Your Myspace Profile Layout To Get More Friend Requests

A mistake I have seen many newcomers make is creating a poorly presentable profile, you may think the profile plays no role in how many friends accept your request but it does…There is a few things you should keep in mind when choosing a layout to use and writing about yourself.

  • Don’t appear to be what you are. - What does this mean?


When someone goes to your profile and see’s you have 2,000+ friends, plus all types of referal codes/images around the place and big bald letters in your ‘About Me’ that say “COMMENT ME!, ADD ME!, COMMENT MY PICTURESSS!!” not to mention all the spam/image comments, the first thing that will come to mind is, “great…another random friend I can accept that will only leave short superficial messages/comments and just wants me for another number on his friends list!”.


Your Solution:

  1. Make your profile private. - If they can’t see your profile they can’t know if your someone they’ve met or just another random…and by the time they add you it will be too late and most users are too lazy to hunt you down on their friends list to delete you.

  2. Choose a normal display picture. - Don’t use the picture of a celebrity or the box of Viagra you plan to try and sell them…use something normal and casual that will blend in with the rest of friend requests.

  3. Use a proper display name. - The same as above…nothing that stands out and makes you look like a spammer/friend whore, choose something normal and try and stay away from the 2.9k ect.. tags (see Mypsace Whoring Slang/Acronyms article).

  4. Hide your friends. - There is many profile codes out there that will help you “masking” a few things on your myspace profile, below I have posted some of them.

I am asked regularly how to use Twitter, the social networking site, most effectively. Many people want to promote their products and services there, only to find that people will quickly unfollow when they do so. If this sounds like something that could be helpful in building your online business, read on to find the solution.

Twitter is a huge community of people from around the world. They have widely diverse interests and backgrounds. Some are there to discuss their businesses, while others just want to connect with people and make new friends. Finding a way to do business within your 140 character limit can be a real challenge.

I recommend treading lightly at first and watching what others are doing. Follow people who are obviously in business and see what they promote and how often they do it. Keep track of the number of followers they have over a seven day period. If you do this with at least 10 people on Twitter, you will have a more realistic view of what you can and cannot do.

The very best way to promote your products and services on Twitter is to join forces with a small group of people who are also interested in promoting. You can engage them in conversation and talk about each other's businesses. Ask questions you already know the answer to, and have the other person do the same.

Budget-Less Marketing

It seems as if for now, the dust is settling from the recent economic turmoil. Though the outlook is somewhat positive, it may be months before businesses get back on track. This means that marketing dollars are still tight and in some cases, nonexistent.

The past few months have been very difficult for the company I work for. We serve the automotive industry and have been faced with situations that have almost forced our marketing and advertising budgets to zero. This isn't because we are cutting back, but because there just wasn't the available capital to move forward. This put me in an interesting position and I believe it has been one of my greatest challenges to date - how to successfully market a companies products and services with just a few penny's in the bank.

In a recession, the marketing and advertising dollars are typically the first to go, even though sometimes it doesn't make sense - I was presented with this dilemma late last year. My first priority was to be sure the company wouldn't quickly be forgotten as our presence in magazines, on Google and at tradeshows was withdrawn. There were several exciting new products coming to the table at the time and I quickly arranged (free) press releases with our advertising partners. Most of the last quarter was spent negotiating the continued placement of monthly articles we produce for the print publications even without contributing advertising revenue. Though an ad may not be present, the articles could potentially draw just enough attention standing alone.

As our advertising contracts expired I noticed a very quick decline in leads - this was expected. By this time, I had already began implementing a plan for budget-less marketing.

One of the first things I did was prepare a detailed database of each email contact and started perfecting the data. Cleaning email databases can be very, very time consuming but if there isn't money to spend - there's plenty of time to do the things you wouldn't be able to do in normal circumstances. My goal was to improve upon our email marketing campaigns (that are practically free) by importing a CLEAN database into a 3rd party tool that could provide detailed reporting and personalization capabilities. Soon after, our newsletter became one of the most popular forms of contact with clients and is well received each month. I have expanded the email campaigning with a monthly specials email and have recently added a quarterly 'Secret Specials' campaign that will go to select groups of email addresses belonging to clients that may need a jumpstart.

In one of my more recent posts entitled 'good times with vseo' I shared some ideas that could help boost website traffic by experimenting with video. My co-workers have now grown accustom to seeing me with a camera around the office. Take the time to buy a simple editing program (MoviePro @ BestBuy - $49.95) and a JVC camera ($395 @ BestBuy) and learn to use these things to your advantage. Come up with some creative ways to generate interest with video and develop a YouTube website. Use your email marketing tools to promote these videos and be sure to get everyone from the company involved from the President to the production staff. This will help to offset the reduced traffic to your site and allow you and your co-workers to have some fun!

My last tip for budget-less marketing is simple. Be sure to take a hard look at customers that discontinued business and leads that haven't been closed in the last twelve months. Do some joint research with the sales team and see if you can form a campaign that will spark new interest. Become aggressive and start making calls from the marketing department, send individual and personalized emails, contact sales representatives and ask what the status is of a lead from eight months ago. Now is not the time to worry about hurting someone else's feelings at the office or in the sales field, now is the time to strap in and do whatever it takes to generate interest and grow sales. In my opinion, if the marketing dollars are taken away - you can either sit tight and wait to lose your job or get serious and make you and your department valuable. Use the down time to learn new things and prep a new campaign, get in touch with customers and experiment. There is no time like now.
